Overview

Diprosone Ointment 0.05% (30g) contains betamethasone dipropionate, a potent corticosteroid in a rich, occlusive ointment base ideal for dry, thickened, scaly skin conditions. Prescribed for stubborn eczema, psoriasis plaques, lichen planus and other steroid-responsive dermatoses, the greasy base locks in moisture while the steroid suppresses inflammation, itching and redness. For chronic dry skin problems where creams are too light, this classic ointment delivers reliable, deep-acting relief in short, supervised courses for patients.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Apply a thin film to the affected area once or twice daily, rubbing in gently. More is not better. Use the shortest course that controls the flare, typically 1-2 weeks, then taper or switch to emollients as advised. Do not cover with airtight dressings unless instructed. Wash hands after use.

Potent steroid. Do not use on the face, skin folds, broken or infected skin, or in children except on specific medical advice. Untreated fungal infections (ringworm) and acne worsen with steroids. Prolonged or widespread use causes skin thinning, stretch marks and, rarely, internal steroid effects. Avoid long unsupervised courses and abrupt cessation after extended use.
