Overview
Naxacin Ointment is a prescription topical treatment that combines a corticosteroid (betamethasone dipropionate) with keratolytic and moisturising agents (salicylic acid, urea and lactic acid). It is used for dry, thickened, scaly skin conditions such as psoriasis, chronic eczema and hyperkeratosis. The betamethasone reduces inflammation, itching and redness, while salicylic acid, urea and lactic acid soften and help shed thickened, scaly skin, improving the penetration of the steroid. Used under medical guidance, it helps relieve stubborn, scaly skin conditions for patients .
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of skin, usually once or twice daily, and rub in gently. Wash your hands after application (unless the hands are the area being treated). Do not use on the face, skin folds or large areas, or under dressings, unless specifically advised, and do not use for longer than prescribed.
This is a prescription medicine for external use only. Avoid the eyes, face and broken skin unless directed. As it contains a potent steroid, prolonged or excessive use can thin the skin and cause other effects. Use only for the period advised. Salicylic acid should not be applied to large areas, especially in children. Not recommended on infected skin without treating the infection. Use with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Stop and seek advice if irritation worsens. Store in a cool, dry place. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
