Overview

Hydrocortisone Cream (Dawacort, 15g) is a mild topical corticosteroid cream used to calm red, itchy, inflamed skin. It is used for mild skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis, insect-bite reactions, and mild irritant or allergic skin rashes, helping to reduce the itching, redness and swelling. Hydrocortisone works by calming the skin's inflammatory response. A handy, gentle option helping people soothe minor itchy, inflamed skin conditions. Confirm the active on the pack.

Directions for Use

For external use. Wash and dry your hands and the affected skin, then apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice a day for a short course (usually up to about 7 days), and rub in gently. Wash your hands after applying (unless treating the hands). Use only on the area advised, and do not use it on large areas or for long periods without medical advice.

Use short-term only. Avoid prolonged use, and avoid the face, eyes, genitals and broken skin unless a doctor directs, as overuse or use on delicate areas can thin the skin. Do NOT use on infected skin (such as cold sores, impetigo, athlete's foot or thrush) or on acne/rosacea unless told to. Not for young children's nappy rash unless advised.
