Overview

Fucidin Ointment (15g) from LEO Pharma contains sodium fusidate, an antibiotic applied directly to the skin to treat bacterial skin infections. It targets the bacteria. Chiefly Staphylococcus. That cause conditions such as impetigo, infected cuts and grazes, infected eczema and folliculitis. The greasy ointment base is especially suited to dry, crusted or scaly areas, helping to soften and protect the skin while the antibiotic works. A trusted, targeted topical antibiotic for localised skin infections in patients under medical guidance.

Sodium fusidate 2% w/w in an ointment base.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription/pharmacist medicine. Use only as directed. Usually apply a thin layer to the affected area three to four times daily, or as advised, after gently cleaning the skin. Wash hands before and after applying (unless treating the hands). Complete the prescribed course even if the skin improves, and do not use for longer than directed to limit resistance.

For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Stop and seek advice if the infection worsens, spreads or does not improve within the expected time, or if irritation or an allergic skin reaction develops. Do not use for longer than prescribed, as overuse can encourage antibiotic resistance. Tell your doctor about other skin conditions or medicines.
