Bactigras 10cm x 10cm Medicated Paraffin Gauze Dressings (10 pack) from Smith & Nephew are sterile antiseptic tulle dressings impregnated with chlorhexidine acetate 0.5% in soft paraffin. They are used on burns, scalds, skin grafts, ulcers, abrasions and other open wounds. The paraffin keeps the dressing from sticking to delicate healing tissue, while chlorhexidine provides antiseptic protection against infection. A clinical staple in hospitals and first-aid care for clean, low-trauma dressing changes that protect wounds as they heal.

Directions for Use

Clean the wound as advised by your healthcare provider. Using clean or gloved hands, remove a sterile gauze from its sachet and lay it directly over the wound, then cover with an absorbent secondary dressing and secure with a bandage or tape. Change typically every 1-3 days or as your clinician directs, watching for signs of infection. Each piece is single-use. Discard after one application.

Do not use if allergic to chlorhexidine or if the sachet is damaged. Sterility will be compromised. For external use on wounds only. Seek medical review if the wound becomes more painful, red, swollen, smelly or discharges pus, or if fever develops.
