Overview

Surgical Spirit (5 litres) is an antiseptic spirit solution used for skin cleansing and general first-aid and hygiene purposes. Based on denatured alcohol, it is used to clean and harden the skin, to disinfect minor cuts and grazes, to prepare and toughen skin (for example over pressure points or before injections), and as a general surface and equipment cleaner. The large 5-litre container suits clinics, pharmacies and busy households. A practical, economical antiseptic and cleaning spirit for healthcare settings and homes.

Denatured ethanol (industrial methylated spirit) with small amounts of methyl salicylate and castor oil. Confirm exact composition on the container.

Directions for Use

For external use only. Apply a small amount to clean cotton wool or gauze and wipe over the intact skin to be cleansed or hardened, or use to wipe down surfaces and equipment. Allow to dry. Use in a well-ventilated area, away from flames. Do not use on large open wounds, deep cuts or broken, raw skin, as it will sting and irritate. Follow any directions on the container.

For external use only. Do not swallow (it is poisonous if drunk) and keep away from the eyes, mouth and broken or raw skin. Highly flammable. Keep well away from naked flames, sparks and heat, and do not smoke while using it. Use in a ventilated space and avoid breathing the vapour for long periods. Stop use if it irritates the skin.
