Micardis 40mg Tablets from Boehringer Ingelheim contain telmisartan, a long-acting angiotensin-II receptor blocker (ARB) for the treatment of high blood pressure and for cardiovascular risk reduction in adults at high risk of heart attack or stroke. Telmisartan relaxes and widens blood vessels, delivering smooth blood pressure control over a full 24 hours. Including the high-risk early morning hours. From one daily tablet, and rarely causes the dry cough seen with ACE inhibitors. Micardis is the original, extensively researched telmisartan brand, trusted for long-term hypertension care (28 tablets).

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, swallowed with water. The full blood-pressure-lowering effect develops over 4-6 weeks. Keep taking it even when you feel well. Hypertension is usually silent, and attend regular blood pressure reviews. Your doctor may adjust the dose between 20mg and 80mg.

Do not use during pregnancy. ARBs can harm an unborn baby; tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant. Not suitable in severe liver disease or bile-duct obstruction. May cause dizziness, especially at first. Rise slowly. Avoid potassium supplements and potassium-based salt substitutes unless advised; kidney function and potassium may be monitored. NSAID painkillers (like ibuprofen) can blunt its effect and strain the kidneys. Check before combining. Store below 30°C in original packaging.
