Meftal Spas is a prescription combination medicine containing mefenamic acid (a pain-relieving NSAID) and dicyclomine (an antispasmodic), used to relieve abdominal pain and cramps caused by muscle spasm. It is especially useful for period (menstrual) pain and cramping, as well as stomach and gut spasms. Mefenamic acid eases pain and inflammation while dicyclomine relaxes the smooth muscle of the gut and uterus, making it effective for painful, crampy conditions in adults .

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Meftal Spas is usually taken after food with a full glass of water, for the shortest time needed to control pain and cramps. Do not exceed the recommended dose or combine with other NSAID or paracetamol-containing pain medicines without advice.

This is a prescription medicine. Not suitable for people with active stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, severe heart, kidney or liver disease, or certain bowel/bladder obstructions (due to the antispasmodic). May cause drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision and dizziness. Take care when driving. Avoid in the last trimester of pregnancy and use with caution if breastfeeding. Take with food and limit alcohol. Seek help for black stools or signs of bleeding. Store in a cool, dry place.
