Overview
Melacare Cream 15g from Ajanta Pharma is a triple-combination skin-lightening treatment for melasma. The stubborn dark patches that commonly appear on the cheeks, forehead and upper lip, often triggered by pregnancy, contraceptives or sun exposure. It combines hydroquinone, which reduces pigment production, tretinoin, which speeds the turnover of pigmented cells, and mometasone, a corticosteroid that calms irritation. Used short-term under medical supervision, Melacare helps fade hyperpigmentation. A common skin concern for women, but must never be used as an everyday cosmetic lightener.
Hydroquinone 2% w/w, tretinoin 0.025% w/w, mometasone furoate 0.1% w/w cream.
Directions for Use
This medicine should be used strictly as directed by your doctor. Apply a thin film to the affected dark patches only, once daily at night, after washing and drying the face. Use for the limited period prescribed. Typically up to 8-12 weeks maximum. Then stop or step down as advised. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning throughout treatment; sun exposure reverses results. Wash hands after applying.
Not for use as a general skin-lightening or all-over face cream. Prolonged or unsupervised use can cause skin thinning, steroid dependence, rebound pigmentation and ochronosis (a difficult bluish-black discolouration). Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid eyes, mouth and broken skin. Expect mild redness, dryness or peeling initially; stop and seek review if marked irritation occurs. Daily sunscreen is essential. Do not use on children.
