Micardis 40 mg contains Telmisartan. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Micardis may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Taking Telmisartan with alcohol may excessively lower the blood pressure. Telmisartan should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of may be needed.
