It is a prescription medicine used to treat and prevent a range of bacterial infections, including throat and tonsil infections (such as streptococcal sore throat), ear infections and skin infections, and to help prevent rheumatic fever and certain infections in at-risk people. Penicillin V works by killing the bacteria responsible for the infection. It is effective only against bacteria and will not treat viral illnesses such as colds or flu.

Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dose is one tablet (250mg) four times a day, taken on an empty stomach. At least 30 minutes before, or 2 hours after, food. With a glass of water. Space the doses evenly through the day. Complete the full course even if you feel better.
Do not take if you are allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. Tell your doctor about any allergies. Seek urgent help for rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing.
