Pulmocef 500mg (cefuroxime axetil) is a prescription second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including throat and tonsil infections, sinusitis, ear infections, chest infections (such as bronchitis and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft-tissue infections, and early Lyme disease. It works by stopping bacteria from building their protective cell wall, killing the infection. Pulmocef helps adults and children recover from bacterial infections, taken as a full prescribed course.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Pulmocef 500mg is usually taken twice daily, after food (which improves absorption), swallowed whole with water. Do not crush the tablet (it has a bitter taste). Complete the full course even if you feel better, and do not skip doses, to help fully clear the infection and prevent resistance.

This is a prescription medicine. Do not take if you are allergic to cefuroxime or other cephalosporins; tell your doctor about any penicillin allergy, as cross-reactions can occur. Tell your doctor about kidney problems or a history of gut problems. May cause stomach upset, diarrhoea or thrush; seek advice for severe or bloody diarrhoea (even weeks after treatment).
