Overview

Ranferon Capsules are a comprehensive iron and multivitamin supplement (haematinic) used to prevent and treat iron-deficiency anaemia. A common cause of tiredness, weakness and pallor, especially in women, expectant mothers and growing children. Each capsule combines iron with folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin C and zinc to support healthy red blood cell production; the added vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron more effectively. Ranferon is well suited to mothers managing anaemia during and after pregnancy, as well as anyone advised by their healthcare provider to boost low iron levels.

Typical active ingredients per capsule: Ferrous fumarate 305 mg (approx. 100 mg elemental iron), Folic acid 1.5 mg, Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 7.5 mcg, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 75 mg, Zinc sulphate 61.8 mg.

Directions for Use

Take one capsule daily, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Swallow whole with a glass of water, ideally after food to reduce stomach upset. Taking it with a source of vitamin C (such as fruit) can improve iron absorption, while tea, coffee, dairy and antacids reduce it. Separate these by at least 2 hours. Continue for the full period advised, as replenishing iron stores can take several weeks to months.

Iron supplements may cause stomach upset, constipation, nausea or darkened stools, which is harmless. Do not take additional iron products at the same time, and keep well away from children, as iron overdose is dangerous and can be fatal in young children. Tell your doctor if you have a condition causing iron overload (such as haemochromatosis or thalassaemia), stomach ulcers, or bowel disease. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding (this product is often used in pregnancy under guidance). Store below 25C in a dry place.
