Overview
Sayana Press 104mg (Home Care) is a self-injectable form of the contraceptive medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA). An 'all-in-one' prefilled device combining the needle and dose in a simple subcutaneous injection given once every three months. After training, it can be self-administered at home, offering convenient, long-acting, period-spacing contraception without daily pills.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Dosage is determined by your prescribing doctor based on your individual needs. Do not adjust your dose without medical supervision. After training by a healthcare professional, the prefilled device is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) into the front of the thigh or abdomen once every 13 weeks, exactly as taught. Do not delay beyond the scheduled interval, and keep a record of injection dates. Follow your provider's guidance on timing for the first dose and on switching from other methods. This medicine is used under medical guidance.
Periods often become irregular and may stop with continued use. This is expected. It can take up to a year for fertility and periods to return after stopping, so it isn't ideal if you want to conceive soon. Long-term use may modestly reduce bone density (usually reversible). Discuss if you have bone-health risk factors. It does not protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections. Use condoms for that. Tell your provider about unexplained vaginal bleeding, breast cancer history, liver disease, or risk of clots. Report severe headaches, heavy bleeding or depression. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
