Overview

Sorid Ointment is a dual-action topical treatment for psoriasis, combining calcipotriol (a vitamin D derivative) with the corticosteroid betamethasone. Calcipotriol slows the rapid build-up of skin cells that causes thick, scaly plaques, while betamethasone reduces the redness, itching and inflammation that come with psoriasis. Together they help clear and calm affected skin. Sorid is for adults with stable plaque psoriasis on the body and limbs, used under the guidance of a doctor as part of a longer-term skin care plan.

Active ingredients: Calcipotriol 50 mcg/g and Betamethasone (as dipropionate) 0.5 mg/g.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin once daily (or as prescribed) and rub in gently until absorbed. Wash your hands afterwards, unless treating the hands. Do not use more than the amount your doctor recommends, and do not exceed the maximum weekly quantity advised. Avoid covering treated areas with airtight dressings. Many people see improvement over a few weeks of regular use.

Not for use on the face, scalp folds or broken skin unless your doctor directs. Avoid if you have certain types of psoriasis (e.g. guttate, erythrodermic or pustular), calcium metabolism disorders, or known allergy to the ingredients. Do not exceed the maximum dose, as excess calcipotriol can raise blood calcium and overuse of the steroid can thin the skin. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
