Overview
Sucralfate 1g is a medicine used to treat and prevent stomach and duodenal (gut) ulcers and to help heal damage to the stomach lining. It works locally rather than by reducing acid: it forms a protective barrier over the ulcer or damaged area, shielding it from stomach acid, enzymes and bile so it can heal. It is used for conditions such as peptic ulcers and to protect the gut lining. It is taken as a course as directed. Confirm whether your product is prescription-only in your area.
Directions for Use
Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. It is usually taken on an empty stomach, about 1 hour before meals and at bedtime, swallowed with water (some tablets can be dissolved in water. Follow the product instructions). Separate it by about 2 hours from other medicines and antacids, as it can affect their absorption. Complete the course as advised.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, diabetes, or difficulty swallowing. Take other medicines and antacids at least 2 hours apart from sucralfate. It may cause constipation. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. If symptoms do not improve, or you have black stools, vomit blood, or severe pain, seek medical help. Store below 30°C. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
