BENEFIT:Lower risk of hypercalcemia than calcium carbonate, as calcium acetate 800mg has the same efficiency as calcium carbonate 1.25g. It also has dual functionality, supplementing calcium in CKD-related hypocalcemia, and serves as a first-line, cost-effective alternative, including for patients unable to afford non-calcium phosphate binders or those who exhaust their insurance mid-month. 1 tablet, taken thrice daily with meals to maximize phosphate binding; the dosage may be increased if needed.
Avoid use in hypercalcemia.
