Overview

Univir Cream (aciclovir) is an antiviral cream used to treat cold sores (herpes labialis). The small, painful blisters around the lips and mouth caused by the herpes simplex virus. Applied at the first sign of a cold sore (tingling, itching), aciclovir helps stop the virus multiplying, easing symptoms and speeding healing. This 10g cream offers convenient, targeted treatment for recurrent cold sores for adults and older children .

Directions for Use

Apply to the affected area (cold sore) five times a day, about every 4 hours during waking hours, ideally starting at the first sign of tingling. Use a clean fingertip or cotton bud, and wash hands before and after to avoid spreading the virus. Continue for the number of days advised (commonly 5 days, up to 10 if needed). For external use on the lips/face only.

For external use only. Avoid the eyes, inside the mouth and the genital area (different products are used there). Do not share, to avoid spreading the virus. Discontinue and seek advice if irritation worsens or the cold sore does not heal. Tell your doctor if you have frequent or severe cold sores or a weakened immune system.
