Overview

Zupricin Ointment 15g contains mupirocin 2%, a topical antibiotic from Glenmark that treats bacterial skin infections including impetigo (the honey-crusted sores common in children), infected cuts and grazes, folliculitis and boils after drainage. Mupirocin works in a unique way that retains excellent activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Including many MRSA strains, and Streptococcus, clearing localised skin infections without oral antibiotics. A dependable prescription ointment for the infected skin lesions frequently seen in clinics and households.

Mupirocin 2% w/w in a polyethylene glycol ointment base.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Wash and gently dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer of ointment two to three times daily for up to 10 days. A small dressing may cover the area if advised. Wash hands before and after application. If there is no improvement within 3-5 days, return for review rather than continuing.

For external use only. Not for eyes, nose or mouth, and not suitable for mucous membranes (polyethylene glycol base). Use cautiously on large open wounds or burns and in kidney impairment. Stop if significant burning, stinging or rash develops. Do not use longer than 10 days. Prolonged use breeds resistance. Widespread, feverish or worsening skin infection needs oral treatment.
