Overview

Acyclovir 5% Cream (Lipsore, 2g) contains aciclovir, an antiviral that treats cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus. Applied at the first tingling sign of a cold sore, aciclovir slows the virus's spread in the skin, helping the cold sore heal faster and easing the soreness, tingling and blistering around the lips and mouth. Starting treatment early, before the blister fully forms, gives the best result. The small 2g tube is handy to carry for prompt use. A trusted, effective cold-sore treatment helping people tackle flare-ups quickly.

Directions for Use

For external use on the lips and around the mouth. Start as soon as you feel the first signs of a cold sore (tingling, itching or redness), even before a blister appears. Wash your hands, dab the cream gently onto the cold sore and just around it, usually five times a day at roughly four-hourly intervals, for the number of days on the pack (often 5, up to 10). Wash your hands after applying, and do not rub the area or share the tube.

For external use on cold sores only. Avoid the eyes, inside the mouth, the nose and the genitals. Do not share the tube, towels or cutlery while you have a cold sore, as the virus is contagious. See a doctor if the cold sore is severe, very frequent, slow to heal, or if you have a weakened immune system. Mild stinging or dryness can occur. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice.
