Betaloc ZOK 50mg Tablets from AstraZeneca contain metoprolol succinate in a controlled-release (ZOK) formulation, a cardio-selective beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure, angina (chest pain), stable chronic heart failure and certain heart rhythm disorders, and to protect the heart after a heart attack. The once-daily controlled-release design delivers smooth, steady medication levels over 24 hours, avoiding the peaks and troughs of standard tablets. Betaloc ZOK supports dependable, long-term heart protection for patients under a doctor's care (30 tablets).

Metoprolol succinate 47.5mg (equivalent to metoprolol tartrate 50mg) per controlled-release tablet.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet once daily, preferably in the morning, with or without food. Swallow whole or divided at the score line. Do not chew or crush, as this destroys the controlled-release action. Keep taking it even when you feel well, and never stop suddenly: your doctor will taper the dose gradually, as abrupt stopping can worsen angina or blood pressure.

Do not use with a very slow heartbeat, certain heart-rhythm disorders, untreated heart failure or severe circulation problems. Use with caution in asthma or COPD. Tell your doctor about any wheezing. May cause tiredness, dizziness, slow pulse or cold hands and feet. Take care when driving until you know its effect. In diabetes, it can mask warning signs of low blood sugar.
