Overview
Efferalgan 500mg Effervescent Tablets contain paracetamol, a trusted, gentle pain reliever and fever reducer, in a fast-dissolving effervescent form. Dropped into water, the tablet fizzes into a pleasant drink that is quickly absorbed, making it useful for relieving headache, toothache, period pain, muscular aches and the discomfort of colds and flu, and for bringing down a fever. The drinkable form is easy to take for people who find swallowing tablets difficult. A familiar, effective everyday painkiller helping households manage everyday pain and fever.
Active: Paracetamol 500mg per effervescent tablet. Contains sodium (effervescent base).
Directions for Use
Take as directed on the label or by your doctor or pharmacist. For adults, usually one to two tablets dissolved in a glass of water every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding the maximum stated on the pack in 24 hours (usually 8 x 500mg tablets). Wait at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing medicine. Use the lowest effective dose; see a doctor if pain or fever lasts more than a few days.
Never exceed the stated dose. Too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage, even if you feel well at first. Do not take with any other product containing paracetamol (many cold and flu remedies do). The effervescent form contains sodium. Tell your doctor if you are on a low-salt diet or have high blood pressure, heart or kidney problems. Tell your doctor about liver problems or regular heavy alcohol use. Seek urgent care if an overdose is taken, even if you feel well. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding as directed. Store below 30°C.
