Overview

Elycort Ointment 15g contains hydrocortisone 1%, a mild topical corticosteroid used to relieve skin inflammation, redness and itching from mild to moderate eczema, dermatitis, insect bites and stings, and allergic or irritant contact dermatitis. As one of the gentlest steroid strengths available, hydrocortisone 1% is a sensible first choice for calming everyday itchy, inflamed skin while the underlying trigger settles. The ointment base also helps moisturise dry, flaky patches. A dependable, affordable staple for family medicine cabinets, available through licensed pharmacies.

Directions for Use

Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice a day, rubbing in gently. Use the smallest amount needed to cover the area. Do not use for more than 7 days continuously unless your doctor advises. Wash hands after applying, unless the hands are being treated. If the condition worsens or has not improved after 7 days, stop and consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds or infected skin, including viral infections (chickenpox, shingles, cold sores), fungal infections (ringworm, athlete's foot) or bacterial infections, as steroids can worsen them. Avoid the face, eyes and genital area unless directed by a doctor. Use in children, pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Prolonged use can thin the skin. Store below 30°C.
