Overview

Orcef 400mg Tablets (5 pack) contain cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that treats a range of bacterial infections. Cefixime works by destroying the cell walls of susceptible bacteria, clearing infections of the chest and airways (such as bronchitis), the ear, throat and sinuses, the urinary tract, and certain other infections including typhoid. The convenient once- or twice-daily tablet makes a full course easy to complete. The 400mg strength is a standard adult dose. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Commonly one 400mg tablet once daily (or split into two doses), with or without food, swallowed with water, for the number of days prescribed. Take it at the same time(s) each day and complete the full course even if you feel better after a few days, to clear the infection fully and help prevent antibiotic resistance.

Tell your doctor about any allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics before use. The most common effects are diarrhoea, nausea or stomach upset; seek advice for severe or watery/bloody diarrhoea, which can occur during or after antibiotic use.
