Overview

Folic Acid 5mg Tablets (100 pack) provide folic acid (vitamin B9), an essential vitamin for making healthy red blood cells and for normal growth and development. The 5mg strength is used to treat and prevent folate-deficiency anaemia and is widely given before and during early pregnancy to help prevent neural-tube birth defects such as spina bifida, as well as alongside certain medicines that lower folate. Directions for Use

Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Commonly one tablet (5mg) once daily, swallowed with water, with or without food. For pregnancy planning, it is ideally started before conception and continued through the early weeks as advised. For anaemia or other uses, take it for the full period your doctor recommends. Take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Generally very safe and well tolerated. Tell your doctor if you have pernicious anaemia or an undiagnosed anaemia, as folic acid alone can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency that needs separate treatment. Tell your doctor about epilepsy medicines or other treatments, as folate can interact with a few. If you are taking it for a medical condition, do not stop without advice.
