Creon capsules is a prescription medicine used to treat people who cannot digest food normally because their pancreas does not make enough enzymes. This condition is called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) and may be due to cystic fibrosis, swelling of the pancreas that lasts a long time (chronic pancreatitis), removal of some or all of the pancreas (pancreatectomy), or other conditions.
Your pancreas normally produces enzymes every time you eat. Creon should be taken every time you eat to replace the enzymes your pancreas isn't making if you have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). The dose varies fro one individual to another. Use it as directed. It is important to take Creon every time you eat, whether it is a full meal or snack. Do not forget to take Creon with you when you are on the go-especially when you are eating out. Always take Creon with enough liquid to swallow your dose without crushing or chewing it.
Don not take Creon if: You are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. You are allergic to pork, any pig product, or to any of the other ingredients. The following information is an educational aid only.
