Simvastatin tablets contains Simvastatin 20mg which is used in the treatment of high cholesterol. It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers 'bad' cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises 'good' cholesterol (HDL).
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. The tablet is to be taken with food.
Simvastatin Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy and during lactation. It should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney and liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
